*The suspect is an ex-convict facing multiple charges for motor vehicle, motorcycle, and tricycle theft*.
…As Human Rights Advocate acknowledged the Command’s Gender and Family Support Units for her exceptional performance.
On 7/03/2025 at about 0300hrs, Intel at Command’s disposal revealed that, one black motor vehicle golf wagon with registration No. X MG 102 AAA Jigawa was sighted parked by the road side near Gidan Tilo village along Shuwarin-Kiyawa road, Kiyawa LGA.
The vehicle was suspected to be parked by unidentified criminals preparing to commit their heinous act.
Upon receipt of the report, the patrol team attached to the Kiyawa Division was dispatched to the scene.
On arrival at the scene, one Alhassan Isiyaku (aka Tata)’m’ age 20 years of Tashar Yada quarters Shuwarin town Kiyawa LGA, was found hiding in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and brought to the station with the vehicle.
When the vehicle was searched, a bag containing some incriminating items were found.
The items recovered include:-
bunches of keys both standard and locally made suspected to be master keys,
some ropes suspected to be used for animals rustling,
an iron cutter suspected to be a breaking implement,
one padlock and
one flog spanner.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to specializing in animal rustling, tricycle theft (keke napep), motorcycle theft, and motor vehicle theft. He also mentioned one Umar Abdullahi ‘m’ of the same address as his accomplice and owner of the bag discovered in the vehicle, who was later apprehended and confessed to specializing in the theft of solar batteries and electric armor cables.
Recall that on February 21, 2025, the prime suspect was arrested in Aujara village, Jahun LGA, for stealing a Mazda 323 Model with registration number MNA 139HK Niger State.
THEFT OF MOTORCYCLE AND RECOVERY OF EXHIBIT: On 08/03/25 at about 2200hrs, patrol team attached to Kazaure Division raced to Gada market and rescued one Mujitaba Suleiman ‘m’ 30yrs of Roni LGA, who was suspected to be a motorcycle thief.
The suspect was rescued and taken to the station for questioning.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being a mechanic who was hired to perform mechanical repairs at Gada. He further disclosed to have stolen one of the motorcycles after service, belonging to one Sa’idu Umar ‘m’ age 48yrs of Gezoji village Kazaure LGA, valued eight hundred thousand naira (₦800,000.00k).
All the suspects were arrested, would be prosecuted to face the law.
In another development, the Jigawa State Human Rights Advocate honored the Jigawa State Police Command’s Officer in-charge of Gender and Family Support Units.
The Jigawa State Human Rights Advocate has proudly presented a prestigious award to W/ASP Monica Emmanuel, Officer in Charge of the Gender and Family Support Units of the Jigawa State Police Command, in recognition of her outstanding dedication to human rights protection and commitment to justice.
The award, presented during ceremonial event in Dutse, acknowledges the officer’s relentless efforts in addressing gender-based violence, promoting family welfare, and ensuring the rights of vulnerable individuals within the state. The recipient has played a pivotal role in strengthening police-community relations, advocating for the rights of women and children, and providing critical support to survivors of domestic abuse and other forms of violence.
Speaking at the event, a representative of the Jigawa State Human Rights Advocate praised the officer’s unwavering dedication and professionalism, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and civil society in ensuring justice for all. “This award is a testament to your selfless service in championing the rights of the most vulnerable members of our society. Your work has made a significant impact, and we appreciate your tireless commitment,” the representative stated.
In response, the award recipient expressed gratitude for the honor and reaffirmed her dedication to upholding justice and protecting human rights. “This recognition serves as further motivation to continue the fight against gender-based violence and other human rights violations. I remain committed to ensuring that victims receive the support and justice they deserve,” the officer remarked.
