The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) continues to sustain strong field performance in the ongoing Phase IV Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) House-to-House Enrollee Verification Exercise, which today entered Day Five across 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kano State.
The 14-day verification exercise, which commenced on 6th November 2025, aims to authenticate enrollee data, confirm household presence, and ensure accurate linkage of beneficiaries to their designated Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities — reaffirming KSCHMA’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all Kano residents.
In a statement signed by public relations officer KSCHMA Aminu Turaki said As of Day 5, field reports indicate that 5,365 households have been visited, with 8,598 beneficiaries successfully verified, representing 19% coverage of the total 46,013 enrollees targeted under this phase. Of those verified, 8,372 beneficiaries were physically sighted, while 226 were not available at the time of visitation. Notably, 97% of sighted enrollees possess valid National Identification Numbers (NINs) — a significant milestone enhancing data accuracy and beneficiary tracking.
Enumeration activities are ongoing in all 11 participating LGAs, with verification teams currently active across 78 of the 127 targeted healthcare facilities, reflecting steady operational expansion and effective coordination among field officers.
Across various communities, residents have continued to express appreciation for KSCHMA’s house-to-house approach, describing it as a major step in making healthcare free, equitable, and accessible to the poor and vulnerable.
The Village Head of Kafinga in Rimin Gado Local Government Area, Alhaji Dauda Ado Bala, commended the initiative, saying:
“We are very happy with this BHCPF programme because it brings free healthcare directly to our people. KSCHMA coming to our homes to verify enrollees shows that the government truly cares about our health. We pray for the continuity of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration for sustaining this people-centered initiative.”
KSCHMA acknowledged the continued support and collaboration of its partners — including the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Local Government Health Authorities, Ward Development Committees (WDCs), and community leaders — whose active participation remains vital to the smooth execution of the exercise.
The Phase IV BHCPF Verification Exercise will ultimately cover 1,822 communities across 127 wards, targeting 46,013 beneficiaries under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) — a flagship programme that delivers free healthcare to the poor and vulnerable across Kano State.
