The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has conducted a supportive supervision exercise at Gwagwarwa Comprehensive Health Center and Giginyu Primary Health Care (PHC) facility as part of its sustained commitment to strengthening primary health care services across the state.
The exercise reflects the Board’s strategic drive to ensure quality, efficiency, and strict adherence to established healthcare standards.
In a statement signed by public relations officer KSPHMB Sa’adatu Sulaiman the supervision was carried out using a structured and standardized checklist to ensure objective assessment and actionable feedback. Key areas assessed included: (1) external environment and physical infrastructure, (2) administration, human resources and staff training, (3) financial management, (4) medicines, supplies and equipment, (5) service delivery, (6) health management information system, and (7) community engagement.
Speaking on the significance of the exercise, the Director-General of KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, emphasized that supportive supervision remains a critical strategy for improving healthcare outcomes. He noted that the initiative is designed to identify gaps, strengthen best practices, and provide on-the-spot technical support to health workers for improved performance.
Professor Salisu further reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to sustaining routine supervision and monitoring across all PHC facilities in Kano State, noting that such interventions are essential for strengthening accountability, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring access to quality, people-centered healthcare for all communities.
