The Director General of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB), a Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, today carried out a strategic monitoring visit to Gandurwawa, Sambauna, and Wasai Primary Health Centres in Minjibir Local Government Area, reinforcing the Board’s commitment to improving accountability and quality healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
In a statement signed by public relations officer KSPHMB Sa’adatu Sulaiman said the visit formed part of ongoing statewide supervisory efforts to evaluate facility performance and ensure adherence to established standards.
Key issues identified during the exercise included staff lateness and absenteeism, weak internal coordination mechanisms, and a critical shortage of manpower—particularly Skilled Birth Attendants (SBAs), essential for safe maternal and child health services.
Addressing health workers at the facilities, Professor Ibrahim stressed the need for professionalism, punctuality, and effective teamwork, noting that the performance of frontline health personnel directly impacts health outcomes. He further assured that the Board will take decisive steps to address the identified gaps through strengthened supervision, improved workforce distribution, and targeted capacity support.
