The Nigeria Union of Pensioners has called on relevant authorities to continue to prioritise the welfare of pensioners and ensure the timely payment of their retirement benefits.
The Chairman of the Union’s Kano State Branch, Comrade Shu’aibu Musa Jibril, stated this in an interview with newsmen in Kano.
He said the Union was established to protect the welfare and well-being of retirees and ensure that they receive their rightful entitlements.
Comrade Shu’aibu said past leaders of the Union had contributed immensely to the development and improvement of the pension scheme.
According to him, the essence of establishing the Union is to ensure that retirees receive their benefits and other entitlements due to them in accordance with the law.
He therefore called on relevant authorities to sustain efforts towards improving the welfare of pensioners and ensuring that their retirement benefits are paid promptly.
