The Chief Medical Director Kano State Infectious Disease Hospital Dr Johnson Ochigbo discribed fully Immunization Coverage among the way that can prevent the Diphtheria Outbreak.
Dr Johnson Ochigbo disclosed this to Newsmen as a result of the Diphtheria Outbreak in some parts of the country.
The Chief Medical Director start with the Brief history of the Diphtheria in Kano state which came in the year 2022.
He said the disease is the Bacteria infection cause, it affect the upper airway of the body, adding that its symptoms includes Cough, fever that affects the major organs of the body.
According to the Chief Medical Director the disease can cause the lost of life if there is any delay without visit near health facility for taken action.
Dr Johnson Ochigbo disregards some rumors concerning the Diphtheria Outbreak in the state as the result of negligent, adding that Kano state government is doing good in tackling the disease in providing all the necessary support.
“Let me tell you that, kano state government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf providing free medical services to all Diphtheria patients across the state, providing staff allowance despite they are working with State government because it is contagious infection that will make them work very hard.” CMD added.
Dr. Johnson Ochigbo pointed out that, fully Immunization Coverage, public Awareness, visiting the nearest hospital as soon as seen any symptoms can prevent the response of the Diphtheria outbreak.
The Chief Medical Director Kano State Infectious disease hospital Dr Johnson Ochigbo commended the state government in it’s effort to tackle the disease especially with the support of state ministry for Health under Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf and the Executive Secretary State Hospital Management Board Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda.
Dr. Johnson Ochigbo also commended the staff that are working Day and night especially in the Ward within the hospital which is mainly for Diphtheria patients because the patients are not only from Kano state but especially from the neighboring state like Jigawa, Bauchi, kaduna and Katsina
