The Faculty of Science and Technology Education (FASTE) males football team has defeated the Faculty of Engineering (FAENG) team by a lone goal to win the 12th edition of Interfaculty football sports competition of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil.
FASTE pressured FAENG at the first half to lead the game by one goal to nil up to the final match.
FASTE was the overall winner at the competition with a total of 29 Medals.
The Faculty of Science and Technology Education won 19 gold medals, 5 silvers and 5 bronze, emerging the overall champions at the competition with a total of 29 Medals. The Faculty of Earth & Environmental Study comes second with 4 gold, 8 silvers and 6 bronze, the faculty of Agric and Agric Technology maintained the third position with 4 gold, 4 silvers and 4 bronze.
The former defending champions in football, Faculty of Engineering finished fourth after winning 3 gold, 4 silvers and 10 bronze. FACMS remained in the fifth position with 12 medals. FACSI is at the last of the medal table with 4 medals.
Speaking to the newsman at the closing ceremony of the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, commended the organizers for the wonderful jobs and initiatives additional games. He said the 12th edition of Interfaculty sports competition show that the university has come of age in sporting activities.
“The tournament was initiated 12 years ago when I was the Deputy Vice Chancellor, it was then called” Chancellor Cup”, he said.
He said they also introduced new games such as female football team as well as beach volleyball.
The Vice Chancellor announced a reward of N250,000 cash to overall faculty, second position N200,000 while the third position got N150,000 while the rest faculty received N100,000 each.
A total of nine games were competed during the 2025, of the 12th edition of Aliko Dangote University Interfaculty competition. They include Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Beach volleyball, Badminton and Tennis.
The rest are Table Tennis, Scrabble, Chess and athletics.
