The Incumbent administration of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf remains Resolute to tackle recurring Land disputes plaguing our communities, striving to effect a permanent solution.
The Commissioner of the Ministry for Local and Chieftancy Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Tajo Othman disclosed during a 2-day seminar organised by the Ministry for Local government in conjunction with BSI Dynamic Enterprises on “Effective Dispute Management as a veritable tool for peace and sustainable Development in Kano”, held at Hotel Seventeen in Kaduna.
Mohammed Tajo Othman, said “Land disputes have been a recurring challenge in our state, often leading to conflicts, displacement, and economic losses. However, we have the opportunity to change this narrative by equipping ourselves with the knowledge and skills necessary to resolve these disputes effectively.”
He said the workshop brings together 44 Local government Chairmen, House Leaders’ Secretaries, DPMs, CPOs, Land Officers, 56 District heads of Kano Emirate, and officials of the Ministry for Local Government and Resource Persons who facilitated all in a desire to put an end, to the bedevilling Challenges of land dispute matters in our 44 local governments.
In a statement signed by public relations officer state ministry for local government and chieftaincy affairs Aminu Bello Sani the Commissioner said it is every stakeholder’s responsibility to assist the government in managing all forms of land dispute matters with fairness, transparency and wisdom.
In her welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Fatima Adamu Barde, commended the Governor for consistently approving the Ministry’s requests to train local government officials, which has significantly enhanced local governance and sharpened local government operations through capacity building.
Speaking at the event the Vice Chairperson of ALGON Kano South and Chairman of Ajingi Local Government Hon. Dr. Abdulhadi Zubairu Chula.
commended the Kano State Government for organising the seminar on Effective Dispute Management, a crucial step towards addressing the recurring land disputes that have plagued our communities. As local government leaders, we recognise the importance of acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to resolve these disputes effectively and promote peace and development.
Dr. Chula urged all participants to fully utilise the knowledge and skills acquired from this seminar to tackle land disputes and other challenges in their respective local governments, and to work towards building a more harmonious and prosperous society for all.
In his remarks, the Representative of Kano Kano Emirate Council, the Makaman Kano and District Head of Dawakin Tofa assured the Kano government of their readiness to support government initiatives that will bring succour to the lives of the teeming populace, especially in resolving land dispute matters, He directed the traditional institutions to ensure compliance with Land Act matters and report any intricacies toward Sustenance of peaceful coexistence.
In his closing remarks, the Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Local Government Matters, Hon. Garba Umar Durbinde, expressed gratitude to all participants, facilitators, and organisers for their contributions to the seminar, and urged all stakeholders to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to resolve land disputes and promote peace and development in Kano State.
