A Non Governmental organization International Society of Media in Public Health ISMPH has ensured its commitment to support all Nigerian Health Reporters in their Reportage through ethics and professionalism.
The Executive Director ISMPH Madam Moji Makanjoula made the assurance in her welcome address during an Alignment, coordination monitoring and implementation meeting under the EngenderHealth Consortium With Kano Health Reporters.
Madam Moji Makanjoula represented by the program Director Mr Solomon Dogo said ISMPH has successfully harmonized health reporters across Kano State under a unified network aimed at strengthening public health communication and promoting accurate, ethical, and evidence-based reporting of health-related issues.
Mr Solomon Dogo further said the ISMPH has trained Thousands of Journalists all over the country on the ethical and professionalism in Health Reporting.
The ISMPH program Director Commended the participants for their mutual Understand, support and cooperation.
Mr Solomon Dogo further said the unified platform would facilitate the capacity building, networking and coordinating In the Health Reporting, adding that similar network were established Abuja, Lagos and Kaduna states.
During the meeting the representatives from CCSI Malam Atiku Yola, LISDEL Dr. Muhammad CHAI Hafiz Ahmad KanSLAM Hajiya Nafisa Murtala Ahmad and Mr Jimmy Faith Adam from SANHDEF gave their goodwill massages.
Similarly, the Public Relations Officers from the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) Tanimu Ahmad Turaki and that of Kano state Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) Faruk Isa Musa as well as public relations officer Kano State Ministry of Health Nabilisi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa made their presentation on they are working with the state Journalists concerning the Health issues in the state.
In her speaking, the Kano state ISMPH coordinator Hajiya Sabuwa Yahaya described the harmonization as a strategic initiative designed to build a stronger and more coordinated network of health reporters capable of delivering factual, timely, and impactful health stories.
Hajiya Sabuwa Yahaya also expressed its happiness on how Journalists in the state that are Reporting on Health and other stakeholders working together objectively.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment by participants to uphold professionalism, accuracy, and ethical standards in health reporting while leveraging the newly established network to strengthen public health communication and contribute to improved health outcomes across Kano State.
At the end of the meeting Kano Health Journalist Network KAHJON were established, Khadija Aliyu emerged as Chairperson, Mustafa Hodi Adamu Vice Chairperson, Abdullahi Hassan Secretary while Mustafa Salisu will serve as public relations officer.
