Kano Gov’t Spent N60 Million Monthly For Free Maternal Commodities – Dr. Labaran

Kano state government has reiterated its commitment to tackle the maternal mortarlity challenges across the state.

The state commissioner for health Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf stated this during the Flag off of the symbolic distribution of Free Maternal, Accident and Emergency commodities and cleaning materials to the state secretary and primary healthcare facilities.

 

He the distribution of those commodities is in line with the present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to end maternal mortarlity and provide a qualitative healthcare to the children in the state.

 

” Kano state government spending millions of Naira for the procurement of free maternal and Accident and Emergency commodities across 44 Secondary Facilities and 53 Primary healthcare centers in the state monthly.” Dr Abubakar Labaran said

 

The commissioner further said during the last quarter over one million pregnant women visited state health facilities.

 

“In the last quarter over 112.000 women visited state health facilities for Antenatal Care clinic, the total number of deliveries are 20.655 and 1.883 pregnant women received Caesaren Section CS which this are free.” The commissioner added

 

Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf pointed out that, the Accident and Emergency commodities were distributing to State health facilities for the free treatment of accident victims within 24 hours.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary State Hospitals Management Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda said Kano state government has approved 60 Million Naira for the procurement of maternity commodities and 37 Million Naira for the procurement of Accident and Emergency commodities that is distributing to State health.

 

According to Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda the board has instituted a measure for the ensuring that the commodities were not diversity selling it to the market through Utilization Register that capture the name, Telephone number and address of each beneficiary.

 

” Since the assumption of present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the last Three years, the scarcity of the patient’s cards in all the state health facilities became a history. Because Kano state government has approved 93 million Naira to the board through state printing press for providing enough Cards,files and other stationaries to Hospitals.” Dr. Nagoda said.

The symbolic distribution is the Third series of quartely free maternal, Accident and Emergency commodities within this year to State health facilities through Hospitals Management Board.
