The Bridge Connect Africa Initiative (BCAI) says its Women Against Violence Empowered Through Sustainability (WAVES) project has produced climate-smart agriculture learning materials to support women farmers in Kano.

Project Lead, Nathan Bako, disclosed this on Thursday in Kano during a dissemination event organised to present outcomes of the project after nine months of implementation.

The initiative, he said is supported by the French Embassy in Nigeria and implemented in partnership with AgrofixNG.

Bako said the project focuses on empowering women economically while strengthening systems that address gender-based violence.

Also speaking, the Technical Partner’s Team Lead of AgrofixNG, Eric Andrew, said the project engaged stakeholders to develop learning products that could guide future programmes.

Andrew explained that the materials include a CSO advocacy guide and climate-smart agriculture training extension plans for crops such as tomatoes, cabbage and okra.

He noted that the resources were developed to help organisations replicate similar interventions and promote sustainable agricultural practices among women farmers.
