Dialysis Services Restored at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital as Governor Approves Four New Machines for Abubakar Imam Urology Centre.

The Kano State Hospitals Management Board wishes to inform members of the public, particularly patients requiring dialysis services, that the Dialysis Unit at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital (MAWTH), Kano, is fully functional and ready to receive patients.

The temporary disruption in services at the unit was occasioned by a technical fault affecting the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment system, a critical component of dialysis operations. The fault has since been professionally addressed, the system restored, and the unit has returned to full functionality.

Patients and members of the public can therefore be assured that dialysis services have resumed, with the hospital prepared to continue providing essential renal care to those who require it.

In another significant development aimed at strengthening renal healthcare services across the state, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has graciously approved the procurement of four (4) brand new dialysis machines for the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre.

The approval represents another decisive intervention by the administration in expanding access to quality specialist healthcare and improving the capacity of public health facilities to respond to the needs of patients with kidney-related conditions. The newly approved machines will significantly enhance the Centre’s dialysis capacity and contribute to reducing pressure on existing dialysis facilities across the state.

The Kano State Hospitals Management Board is also pleased to announce that the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre is expected to resume full service within the coming weeks, following the necessary delivery ,preparations and installation of the new equipment.

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continued commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, medical equipment and access to specialised services for the people of Kano State.

In a statement signed by public Relations officer state Hospital Management Board Samira Sulaiman said Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda assured the public that the Board remains committed to ensuring that government owned health facilities are adequately equipped, functional and capable of delivering safe, efficient and quality healthcare services. These interventions underscore the administration’s commitment to restoring confidence in public healthcare, expanding access to specialised medical services and delivering a stronger, more responsive healthcare system for the people of Kano State.

The Board therefore urges patients requiring dialysis services to take advantage of the restored facility at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, while further updates on the reopening of the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre will be communicated to the public in due course.
