A Federal High Court Kano, presided over by Justice Simon Amobeda has adjourned its sitting to 8th May 2025 to enable Applicants file their additional information to support their case in the ongoing civil suit challenging their arrest and detention during the 1st October, 2024 ‘End Bad Governance’ protests in Kano.

The Six Applicants include: Comrade Abdulmajid Yakubu Daudu, Barrister Yusha’u Sani Yankuzo, Barrister Amina Bello and Comrade Anas Ado Ahmad.

Others are: Comrade Sani Ibrahim Narogo and Comrade Abdullahi Adamu Mandawari.

The Activists Instituted the the suit on 31st January, 2025 against Nigeria Police Force, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, The State Security Services, SSS and the Director DSS, Kano State.

The Applicants are seeking perpetual declarations affirming that their arrest violated their Fundamental Rights to peaceful assembly and free expression, as enshrined in sections 39, 40, and 41 of Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria and Article 9 of the African Charter on human and people’s rights.

The Activits additionally, are demanding a joint compensation of N1 Billion and a perpetual injunction restraining the defedants from further arresting them.

When the case resumed Tuesday, police only served the Applicants with their counter affidavit in the morming.

Justice Watch News gatherred that the Applicants were allegedly arrested on september, 30th, 2024 by a combined team of DSS and Police operatives in Kano and were subsequently transported to Abuja, where they were detained for two days without charge.
