The Kano State Government has commended the Federal Government for its impactful implementation of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programme, describing it as a critical intervention in improving the lives of vulnerable Nigerians.
This commendation was conveyed by the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani who represented His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf at an interactive session with beneficiaries of the programme in the State.
The event, which was attended by the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr. Bernard M. Doro alongside key stakeholders, development partners, community leaders, and beneficiaries, focused on strengthening the effectiveness of the Household Uplifting Programme.
The Governor stated that the visit demonstrates the Federal Government’s strong commitment to supporting vulnerable citizens and improving their living conditions.
He particularly applauded the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme for its tangible impact on households, especially among women, children, and persons with special needs, noting that it has enabled beneficiaries to meet basic needs while restoring dignity, hope, and self-reliance.
Governor Yusuf further stated that the initiative aligns with the Kano State Government’s priority of improving the socio-economic well-being of its citizens, adding that the synergy between the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the State’s “Kano First” initiative is instrumental in transforming the lives of vulnerable families.
Highlighting the State Government’s complementary efforts, the Governor disclosed that over 5,200 women are currently supported with a monthly grant of ₦50,000 each as start-up capital to promote small-scale businesses.
He also noted that Kano State recently celebrated the International Day of Families for the first time, during which 500 families received food items and essential supplies.
According to him, these interventions reflect the State Government’s commitment to providing relief while creating sustainable economic opportunities for vulnerable populations.
He reaffirmed the State Government’s readiness to continue working closely with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to strengthen collaboration, promote transparency, and ensure the effective delivery of social protection programmes.
The Governor further noted that the engagement provided a valuable platform to interact directly with beneficiaries, assess the impact of the programme, and identify areas for improved service delivery.
Reiterating the commitment of the present administration, the Governor assured that Kano State will continue to support initiatives that uplift the lives of its citizens and expand the reach of social intervention programmes.
The event concluded with goodwill messages and a renewed commitment by all stakeholders to deepen partnerships in the fight against poverty.
