The federal ministry of health and social intervention in collaboration with Kano state government has reiterated their determination to reduce the health indices across the state.
The state commissioner for health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf during the graduation ceremony for the first cohort and unveiling the second cohort of the National Health Fellows held in Kano said the initiative is in line with the present administration to reduce the high rate of material and neonatal mortality and other health Indices in the state especially at the rural area.
The commissioner further said the initiative is a Long awaiting consider the high burden of this challenges across the all the state of the federation.
Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf congratulates the graduants, urged them to be good ambassadors in the communities that have been posted.
” This is the beginning to reduce maternal mortality, improve immunization especially in the situation were Kano state has the 100 percent immunization coverage,” Dr. Labaran added.
The commissioner called on them to work with WDC in all the 44 local government areas in order to achieve the goals.
Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf also urged the second cohort that unveiled to copy from the first cohort that graduated for the success of their work.
The commissioner commended the federal government through the federal ministry of health for the initiative, assured Kano state government readiness to support any issue that make the state forward especially in the health sector.
Speaking earlier, the coordinating minister of health and social intervention Professor Muhammad Ali Pate through Dr Ashiru Adamu Abubakar said the federal government has introduced the programme with aim to train young Nigerian on how to deal with health indices across the country.
The minister pointed out that, the situation of National Health Fellows is 100 percent marit based drive for its implementation.
The minister also commended the Kano state government for supporting the programme.
In his key note address, the Director General state primary healthcare management Board Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim urged the graduands to fully engage in their community in order to reduce maternal mortarlity and other health Indices.
According to the Director General state primary healthcare management Board all this challenges that have mentioned has been reduced in the state within last Three years of present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim also changed them to focus on mobilizing pregnant women for Antenatal Care, mobilze people to always go to screening for Diabetics, Hypertension and pay attention to other health related indices like non communicable diseases.
In his remarks, the Emir Of Kano Khalifa Muhammad Sunusi II represented by Dankadan Kano the District Head of Shanono Dr Muhammad Bashir described the initiative as a timely considering the high rate of material and neonatal mortarlity and other health Indices in the communities.
Speaking earlier, Kano National Health Fellows Representative Dr Sulaiman Usman Ibrahim spoke at length on the activities across the 44 local government areas of the state.
In their sperate goodwill massages, the representatives from SWAP, WHO and FCDO Lafiya Programme expressed their readiness to support the programme with aim to reduce the high burden of maternal mortality and other health Indices in Kano state.
