Kano state government has assured its readiness to fully implementation of the state new master plan.
The state commissioner for land and physical planning Alhaji Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar stated this at the One-day stakeholder engagement workshop on Kano metropolitan city master plan review in the state.
The commissioner represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry Tpl. Muhammad Yahuza said the workshop will focus on the wys that change the old state master plan to the new one through consultation of stakeholders.
“I wish to express my delight for been in your midst as part of this significant workshop, where we gather to review the Kano State Metropolitan Master Plan. Today, we embark on a journey to shape the future of our great city, while preserving its rich heritage. It is imperative that we consider this workshop as an important key to transformation of the State.” The commissioner said
According to Alhaji Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar the current effort in developing a comprehensive master plan for the State, as a significant step to re-write history for prosperity and progress.
Adding that It is an event with important stakeholders and partners that have come together to discuss, cross fertilize and strategize, to appreciate and chart the way for a new master plan that conforms with modern development, preserving the past and providing for the future.
“As we review the master plan, we must prioritize the preservation of our historical sites, including the ancient city walls that have stood the test of time, though threat of bastardization and destruction by past government, the current review must consider the sanctity and preservation of these landmarks, which are not only a testament to our glorious past but also a source of pride for our people.” Alhaji Abduljabbar said
The commissioner further said the master plan will incorporate modern elements, ensuring Kano remains a hub for commerce, innovation, and culture.
” Through this we will Promote sustainable development: Balancing growth with environmental protection,Enhance infrastructure: Improving roads, transportation, and public services.Foster economic growth: Creating opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs.
Preserve heritage: Protecting historical sites and cultural landmarks.” The commissioner added
The commissioner also urged all stakeholders to actively participate in this review process, sharing your expertise and insights to create a master plan that truly reflects our collective vision for Kano, together, we can build a brighter future for our city, while preserving its rich heritage.
“Let me use this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to realizing the vision of Governor of Kano State, Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf for a modern City that will accommodate all the infrastructure and facilities to make life comfortable for the people and provide veritable avenue for economic prosperity.” Commissioner Emphasized
In her official Remarks, the managing Director Kano state Urban Planning and Development Authority KNUPDA Arc. Hauwa Hassan Tudun Wada highlights on KNUPDA mandate that includes : to plan, develop, and manage urban areas in Kano State.
” Our function are also Urban planning, which involves developing and implementing master plans.
Infrastructure development, which encompasses overseeing construction and maintenance.
Land management, which is associated to regulating land use and allocation.
According to managing Director KNUPDA Arc Hauwa Hassan the workshop was aim to transform Kano into a modern, organized, technology-driven, commercially vibrant, investment-friendly, and a tourist-attractive city.
“Our vision is to make Kano a hub for commerce, innovation, and tourism. We will achieve this by:
Improving infrastructure, such as Roads, transportation, and public services.
Enhancing amenities, such as parks, recreational spaces, and community facilities.
Promoting investment, through creating a business-friendly environment.
Preserving heritage, by Protecting historical sites and cultural landmarks.” Arc Hauwa Hassan said
In his paper presentation, on kano urban Development: why Kano needs master plan review an expert Tpl. Almustapha D. Inuwa said master plan is very important document that will lead government to implement developmental projects to its people.
“I want commend the foresight of Kano state government for organizing the workshop for the reviewing the state old master plan since 1962 to the new one for future development.” Tpl. Almustapha added
Other speakers during the event are Tpl. Hassan Na’abba, professor Abubakar Muhammad Husain and Tpl. Dr Emmanuel Bako.
The workshop also blessed by the representative of Emir of Kano Malam Muhammad Sunusi II in the parson of Falakin Kano Dr Muktar Ibrahim as well as many stakeholders.
