AGRICULTURE :
Recognising agriculture as the backbone of the state’s economy, Gov. Idris has sustained investments in the sector, especially as Kebbi is Nigeria’s leading rice producer. The government had distributed assorted fertilizers and other inputs free of charge.
The Kaura Agricultural Development and Growth Agenda (KADAGE) was launched to modernise agriculture. In 2024, the government distributed 500 trucks of fertilizer, 300 trucks of food items, 5,000 solar-powered pumps, 10,000 LPG pumps, and numerous other tools—all free.
At the launch of the 2025 Dry Season Farming at Haliru Abdu Stadium, the Governor announced further free distribution of 10,000 solar and gasoline-powered pumps, 3,000 LPG-powered pumps, 3,000 power tillers, 10,000 knapsack sprayers, improved seeds, and organic inputs.
In addition,15,000 farmers are participating in the Residual Moisture Crop Production programme to mitigate flood damage. Contracts for over 200km of rural roads have also been awarded to improve access to agricultural markets.
SECURITY :
Security remains a top priority for the Idris-led administration. Despite Kebbi’s relative peace, the government has taken proactive steps to address insecurity in affected areas, particularly in Kebbi South. Governor Nasir Idris is also taking decisive measures in addressing the criminality of Lakurawa in some parts of Argungu Emirate.
Upon taking office, Gov. Idris implemented swift security measures, resulting in the neutralisation of key bandit leaders like ‘Mainasara’ in Danko Wasagu and ‘Dogo Oro’ in Bunza LGA. Attacks have drastically reduced, especially in Zuru, Fakai, Yauri, Shanga, and Ngaski.
Farmers have returned to their fields, and communities are actively cooperating with security agencies. Vigilante groups have been strengthened with government support. Government oGovernor holds regular security meetings and has increased allowances for personnel.
A joint task force comprising all security agencies and vigilantes has been formed. Billions of Naira were spent to procure 27 Hilux vehicles, land cruisers, and 730 motorcycles for these groups.The Governor has consistently supported security agencies by providing operational vehicles to improve logistics and supplying essential equipment to aid in the fight against crime across the state. The support also extends to the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service. Commander Musa Hussaini Rambo acknowledged Governor Idris’ consistent assistance in clearing forests of criminal elements and improving local security capacity.
Gov. Idris regularly visits affected communities, offering relief and moral support, embodying leadership rooted in compassion and action.
NEW MINISTRIES AND AGENCIES :
The administration of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, established several new Ministries and Agencies, including the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry for Special Duties, Ministry for Animal Health, Husbandry and Fisheries, Ministry for Solid Minerals Development, and the Kebbi Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA). These were created to expand government presence, promote good governance, create employment opportunities for women and youths, and stimulate the socioeconomic growth of Kebbi State.
The establishment of KIPA is a strategic initiative aimed at attracting investments and fostering economic development in the state. Recognising the vital role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the administration prioritised the removal of barriers such as multiple taxation and improved access to financial support, grants, and loans.These efforts are tailored to sustain SME growth and encourage entrepreneurship.
MINISTRY OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS :
Upon assuming office in 2023, Governor Nasir Idris recognised the significant role of religion in societal harmony. As such, he established the Ministry of Religious Affairs—the first of its kind in Kebbi State—to manage and regulate religious activities without infringing on citizens’ rights to worship. To ensure inclusivity, Special Advisers on Religious Affairs and Christian Affairs were appointed.
Within two years, the Ministry recorded notable achievements, including the rehabilitation of over 100 Jumuat Mosques and the installation of solar panels at 500 locations, particularly in the palaces of District Heads. Khamsus Salawat (five daily prayers) mosques were constructed or upgraded across all local government areas.
A Ramadan feeding programme was implemented in at least three Jumuat mosques in each of the 21 local governments. Laws establishing the Hisbah, Preaching, and Zakaat Boards were gazetted. Additional burial grounds for both Muslims and Christians were provided, and a debt of N18 million owed by Christian pilgrims was offset.
In recognition of religious leaders, the government distributed assorted grains and fertilisers. During religious festivities, rams and relief materials were given to Ulamas and Christian clergy. In partnership with international bodies, the Government supported orphans and the underprivileged, benefitting 304 orphans from the state.
Sensitisation programmes were held to promote peaceful coexistence among religious leaders, and over 20,000 patients received essential psychiatric medications. A major milestone was Kebbi State’s successful hosting of the 2024 National Qur’anic Recitation Competition.
