Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has commenced 2 day 2027 Annual Development Plan (AOP), workshop with various departments of the Fund presenting their proposed programmes, activities, priorities and strategic interventions for the coming year.

The planning session brought together relevant departments and units of KHETFUND to review their respective responsibilities, identify priority areas and develop realistic activities that will contribute to the Fund’s mandate of strengthening healthcare delivery across Kano State.

During the presentations, each department outlined its proposed activities for 2027, including key interventions, expected outputs, implementation strategies and areas requiring institutional support. The presentations provided an opportunity for the departments to align their individual plans with the broader objectives and priorities of KHETFUND.

In her Opening Remarks, the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, explained the rationale behind the development of the 2027 AOP, stressing that effective planning is essential for achieving measurable results and ensuring that available resources are directed towards priority health needs.

In a statement signed by public Relations officer KHETFUND Amina Lawal Isa said Dr Fatima emphasised that the AOP is not merely an administrative document, but a strategic framework that will guide the Fund’s activities, resource allocation, implementation and performance monitoring throughout 2027.

She further encouraged all departments to ensure that their proposed activities are realistic, evidence-based, measurable, result-oriented and aligned with the mandate and strategic direction of KHETFUND. She noted that proper coordination among departments would be critical to avoiding duplication of activities and maximising the impact of the Fund’s interventions.

Dr. Zahraddeen also highlighted the importance of accountability, effective utilisation of resources and continuous monitoring in ensuring that planned interventions translate into tangible improvements in healthcare services and outcomes for the people of Kano State.

The 2027 planning process is expected to consolidate the contributions from all departments into a comprehensive KHETFUND Annual Operational Plan, which will serve as a roadmap for the Fund’s programmes and interventions throughout the year.
