The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has conducted a post-funding verification exercise at the School of Midwifery, Gwarzo, following its intervention support to the school for the Final Qualifying Examination to the tune of N1.878 million, which was disbursed on 10th June 2025.
In a statement signed by Faruk Isa Musa said the verification visit, which took place on Friday, 24th October 2025, was part of KHETFUND’s ongoing commitment to promoting accountability, transparency, and quality assurance in the utilization of public health funds. During the visit, the team assessed the implementation and outcomes of the Fund’s intervention, which was aimed at ensuring a smooth and credible conduct of the final examinations for graduating midwifery students.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, who was represented by the Director Special Duties Hamisu Abubakar, highlighted that the post-funding verification is a crucial step in ensuring that resources disbursed by the Fund are utilized effectively and in line with approved objectives.
She reaffirmed KHETFUND’s dedication to supporting health institutions across the state through funding interventions, infrastructure development, continuous monitoring, and post-implementation verification to ensure sustainability and impact.
“Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of training institutions in the health sector and ensure that every naira invested translates into measurable impact. The verification exercise allows us to confirm that interventions are implemented as planned and contribute meaningfully to the improvement of healthcare delivery in Kano State,” the ES stated.
“As a government agency established to provide sustainable financing for the health sector through strategic and accountability-driven interventions, the overall mission of KHETFUND is to improve the quality, accessibility, and efficiency of healthcare delivery in Kano State, as in tandem with the vision of the present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf,” she further explained.
During the exercise, the verification team reviewed documentation for the intervention and interacted with the management of the School of Midwifery, Gwarzo. The team also commended the school’s management for their cooperation and commitment to maintaining high training standards.
In her remarks, the Principal of the School of Midwifery Gwarzo, Asiya Sani, expressed appreciation to KHETFUND for its timely intervention, which, according to her, significantly enhanced the preparation and conduct of the final qualifying examinations.
“This support came at a critical time and ensured that our students had a conducive environment to successfully complete their training. We are grateful to KHETFUND, headed by the Executive Secretary Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, for its continued investment in strengthening midwifery education in the state,” she said.
