The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has carried out a post-funding verification visit to Sheikh Muhammad Jidda General Hospital, Kano, to assess and confirm the completion and quality of the recently constructed Physiotherapy and Gym Department, funded at a total cost of ₦46,736,594.78, which was disbursed to the facility on 30th July 2025.
The visit, which took place on Thursday 6th November 2025, was aimed at ensuring that all funds disbursed were utilized in accordance with approved specifications, timelines, and quality standards. The exercise is part of KHETFUND’s continuous commitment to transparency and accountability in healthcare investments across the state.
In a statement signed by Faruk Isa Musa said during the exercise, the KHETFUND team reviewed relevant documents, inspected the newly built Physiotherapy and Gym Department, and also reviewed the structural works, equipment installations, as well as overall functionality of the facility. The intervention represents a significant step in enhancing the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality rehabilitative and physiotherapy services to patients in Kano and neighboring communities.
Speaking during the visit, the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, who was represented by Director Admin and General Services Abubakar Bala, commended the facility management for their cooperation and adherence to project standards.
“This verification exercise reaffirms KHETFUND’s dedication to ensuring that the funds invested in the health sector translate into tangible improvements in service delivery. The construction of this Physiotherapy and Gym Department will not only expand the hospital’s service offerings but also improve patient outcomes and recovery processes,” the Executive Secretary stated.
“We at KHETFUND, as guided by the Honorable Commissioner for Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, remained committed to promoting transparency through regular monitoring, verification, and evaluation of all funded projects to ensure optimal impact and accountability in line with the vision of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all residents,” she added.
In response, the Medical Director of Sheikh Muhammad Jidda General Hospital, who was represented by Zonal Director (Physiotherapy) Dr. Fatima I. Hamza, expressed appreciation to KHETFUND and the Kano State Government for their continuous support in improving healthcare infrastructure.
“This intervention will significantly strengthen our rehabilitative services and reduce the need for patients to seek physiotherapy care somewhere else,” the Medical Director noted.
The project is one of 2025 regular interventions funded by KHETFUND under its mandate to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and ensure sustainable health financing in Kano State.
