The Kano State House of Assembly, speaker Jibrin Ismail Falgore said the workshop will equip the journalists with necessary knowledge skills, and understanding of legislative reporting and strengthen professional engagement.It is intended to deepen your appreciation of your roles,to guide you you on how to conduct the reporting mechanism effectively, and to promote transparency and accountability.
The Speaker Jibrin Ismail Falgore made the disclosure while declaring open a one _day workshop organised for journalists, with the themed Advancing Skills in Legislative Reportage from Proceedings to Public Understanding,held in Kano.
Jibrin Ismail Falgore who was represented by the Chairman House Standing Committee on Information, Shuaibu Rabiu reaffirmed there commitment to maintaining an open and transparent relationship with the media, and recognise as partners in progress and key stakeholders in the democratic process.
In a keynote address, Clerk of the Assembly, Bashir Idris Diso, said the workshop was apt.
Bashir Idris Diso, represented by the Director Information and Publication, Aminu Zubairu Abubakar also said, the workshop was organised to acquaint them with prerequisite of legislative process for public consumption.
He further commended the assembly and the organisers of the event and ensuring of providing an avenue to thrive and welfare of all.
The event witnessed paper presentation on Mastering Legislative Reporting and the Function of Oversight in Ensuring Accountability and Good Governance in a Democratic Setting.by Lami Ali.and that of Reporting Lawmakers by Aisha Muhammad Hassan.and was attended by media professionals and the staff of the assembly.
