A high-level delegation comprised members of Kano state House of Assembly and civil society organisations have conducted an oversight visit to health facilities in Doguwa local government area.
The deligation led by member represented Doguwa Constituency Kano state House of Assembly Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Muhammad is part of legislative-led joint accountability spot check for straighting primary healthcare centers and secondary health facilities services financing service delivery and health outcome organized by Legislative immolation for sustainable development LIESDEL.
Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Muhammad said this is part of what Kano state House of Assembly passed on the general renovation of the state health facilities.
“We are in Doguwa local government area to see the condition of the facilities physically. Because I have presented the motion in the floor of the House calling for total renovation of Doguwa General Hospital. The picture I gave wasn’t enough to prove what I was said, but am happy that the people are here, hospital personnel are here, and the CSO official also are here,” Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim said.
“We were here jointly because we are really disturbed by what is happening interns of delapidation, that’s why Kano state House of Assembly in conjunction with civil society organisations created this platform for us to come and see the status of those health facilities across the state,” The member added.
Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim pointed out that, the Doguwa general hospital is the mother of all, mean the people from the neighbouring states that is Kaduna, plateau and Benue are benefiting from the hospital.
The law Maker also expressed his happiness with what they have seen in Dadin Kowa Model primary healthcare, urged the government to add more intems of facilities and personnel.
Comrade Salisu Yusuf represented the civil society organisations in the committee sai the purpose of the visit is to access the functionality of different units in the facilities, how do they operate intems of financial process as well as to know those facilities has the security or not.
Comrade Salisu Yusuf further said the visitation will help to identity those gaps inorder to know how to bridge those gaps which is not poult funding but rather to ensure they have produce the analysis that support the system for the improving service delivery that will make the system very functional.
“All the hand must be on deck especially with the new initiative of maternal and Neonatal mortality reduction initiative immunization MAMII were by all the system is looking Into how mortanal mortality and morbidly will be crash down. we have to work tiredly to ensure that what is required to put in place interms of qualified service providers, interms of provisions of drugs, interns of equipments that will support the process.” Comrade Salisu Yusuf added
Other committee members that visit the Doguwa local government area includes Kano state member representing Tudun Wada constituency Alhaji Sule Lawal Shuwaki the representatives from state ministry for health, Hospitals Management Board, state primary healthcare management Board, KSCHMA among others.

A high-level delegation today conducted a Joint Supportive Supervision visit to Bunkure General Hospital and Gurjiya Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) as part of the ongoing oversight and monitoring of facilities under the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (MAMII) in Kano State.
The delegation was led by Honourable Members of the House Committee on Health, Kano State House of Assembly, alongside the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, the Director General, State Primary Healthcare Management Board, Professor Salisu Ahmad, and a representative from the Hospitals Management Board.
The exercise forms part of a broader legislative initiative for sustainable healthcare development, aimed at assessing the functionality, service quality, and operational challenges of healthcare facilities across the state.
During the visit, the team engaged with facility managers and frontline healthcare workers, reviewed infrastructure and service delivery processes, and highlighted areas requiring intervention to strengthen maternal and neonatal healthcare services.
This joint initiative underscores the Kano State Government’s commitment to reducing maternal and neonatal mortality, ensuring accountability, and improving access to quality healthcare for communities across the state.
