The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has once again demonstrated its commitment to protecting vulnerable children by referring 12-year-old Abdullahi Usman in critical need of specialized care to the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre for urgent surgery.

Abdullahi, currently under the custody of the Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Disabled Persons, was diagnosed with Hypospadias midshaft with chordee, a congenital urological condition requiring prompt surgical correction to prevent complications and ensure proper urinary and reproductive function.

Upon arrival, the patient was received by Dr. Balarabe Umar Muhammad, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, who ordered swift investigations and assessments to determine the most appropriate treatment plan and ensure Abdullahi receives timely and accurate medication prior to surgery.

In a statement signed by public relations officer KSCHMA Aminu Ahmad Turaki said the referral and immediate medical intervention were coordinated by the KSCHMA Rapid Response Team, under the directive of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, as part of the Agency’s ongoing efforts to provide specialized healthcare for vulnerable populations across Kano State.

Speaking during the referral, Dr. Balarabe Umar Muhammad commended KSCHMA for its proactive and coordinated approach, noting that early surgical intervention is critical for children with congenital urological conditions, and that Abdullahi will be under comprehensive care throughout treatment and recovery.

Representatives from the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Disabled Persons expressed gratitude to KSCHMA and Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, highlighting the importance of collaboration between health agencies and social services in safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable children.

The Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to ensuring timely access to quality healthcare services for children, women, and other vulnerable groups, emphasizing that KSCHMA will continue to coordinate with relevant institutions to provide specialized care, support, and follow-up for all beneficiaries.

This intervention underscores KSCHMA’s proactive role in protecting vulnerable populations and ensuring that children under state care receive life-saving and specialized medical attention whenever needed.
