In line with its commitment to enhancing quality healthcare service delivery, the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) deployed two high-level teams to conduct supportive supervision visits to Tudun Wada MCH in Tudun Wada LGA, Kibiya PHC in Kibiya LGA, and Rano Dawaki PHC in Rano LGA. The exercise underscores the Board’s proactive approach to ensuring optimal performance and accountability across primary healthcare facilities in the state.

The supervision exercise was guided by a comprehensive assessment framework covering critical thematic areas, including external environment and physical infrastructure, administration and human resources with emphasis on staff training, financial management systems, availability of medicines, supplies and equipment, quality of service delivery, health management information systems, and community engagement. This robust approach enabled the teams to conduct a thorough evaluation while reinforcing adherence to established standards and best practices.

In a statement signed by public relations officer KSPHMB Sa’adatu Sulaiman said At Tudun Wada MCH, the team observed a significant increase in client turnout at the nutrition corner, coupled with the availability of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), highlighting improved uptake of nutrition services. The Programme Manager of Nutrition, KSPHCMB, Malam Murtala Sani Abdullahi, emphasized the need for strict compliance with Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP), directing service providers to ensure that every child under five years presenting at the facility is properly assessed in line with national guidelines.

Commenting on the exercise, the Director General, KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, emphasized the Board’s resolve to institutionalize high-impact supportive supervision as a tool for continuous improvement. He noted that the initiative is pivotal to identifying service gaps, strengthening frontline capacity, and ensuring the delivery of efficient, equitable, and people-centered healthcare services to all communities across Kano State.
