The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) marks the first anniversary in office of its Director General, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, celebrating 365 days of purposeful leadership, strategic reforms, and remarkable progress in strengthening primary healthcare delivery across Kano State. Since assuming office, Professor Ibrahim has championed a people-centred approach that has revitalized primary healthcare services through innovation, accountability, effective supervision, capacity building, and strengthened collaboration with development partners.
Over the past year, the Board has recorded significant milestones, including the expansion of routine immunization and zero-dose interventions, improved implementation of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), strengthened maternal, newborn, child, adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAH+N) programmes, enhanced cold chain systems, improved financial management and accountability, and the revitalization of primary healthcare facilities across the state. Through strategic partnerships with National Primary HealthCare Development Agency'(NPHCDA), UNICEF, WHO, CHAI, Nutrition International, Pathfinder International, eHealth Africa, FCDO Lafiya, SANHDEF, ACASUS, EngenderHealth and other partners, KSPHCMB has continued to deliver impactful interventions that are improving health outcomes for the people of Kano State.
Reflecting on the milestone, the Director General, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, said the achievements recorded within the past year were made possible through the unwavering support of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, the commitment of the Board’s workforce, and the invaluable contributions of development partners and community stakeholders. He reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to sustaining reforms, strengthening primary healthcare services, and ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for every resident of Kano State.
In a statement signed by public Relations officer state primary Healthcare Management Board Sa’adatu Sulaiman said Professor Ibrahim’s administration has prioritized regular supportive supervision, staff capacity development, evidence-based planning, policy implementation, performance monitoring, and community engagement. His unwavering commitment to transparency, discipline, and quality service has strengthened institutional performance while reinforcing public confidence in the state’s primary healthcare system and advancing the health transformation agenda of the Kano State Government.
As KSPHCMB reflects on this significant milestone, the achievements recorded over the past 365 days underscore the Board’s determination to build a resilient, responsive, and people-centred primary healthcare system. With sustained government support and strong collaboration with development partners, the Board remains focused on consolidating these gains and accelerating progress towards universal access to quality primary healthcare services across Kano State.
