The Director General of the @knsphcmb, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, has undertaken an unscheduled supervisory visit to selected Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities in Madobi Local Government Area as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery, accountability, and quality of care across the state. The facilities visited include Halliru Akilu PHC, Burji PHC, and Kafin Agur PHC.
In a statement signed by public relations officer state primary healthcare management Board Sa’adatu Sulaiman said at Halliru Akilu PHC, the DG observed the absence of Basic Health Care Provision Funds(BHCPF) staff on duty, poor facility readiness for essential services such as maternal and casualty care, inadequate environmental hygiene, and weak record-keeping of services rendered. At Burji PHC, no staff were found on duty even as late as 9:15 a.m., alongside generally poor environmental hygiene. Similarly, Kafin Agur PHC, despite being a large facility, recorded very low client turnout and poor environmental cleanliness, raising concerns about service utilization and facility management.
In response to the findings, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim directed immediate actions to address the lapses identified. All Zonal Directors have been summoned to the Board for an emergency meeting to review supervision outcomes and enforce compliance with operational standards. Additionally, the Head of Department of Health and relevant staff of Burji PHC have been directed to report to the KSPHCMB headquarters for further administrative review.
Furthermore , the DG announced plans for a community engagement meeting involving the Chairman of Madobi LGA, Ward Development Committees (WDCs), and the Madobi Development Association to strengthen community ownership and accountability. As part of decisive disciplinary measures, a temporary staff member at Kafin Agur PHC was relieved of duty due to misconduct. The KSPHCMB reiterates its zero-tolerance stance on negligence and its commitment to ensuring functional, clean, and people-centered PHC services across Kano State.
