Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has convened the maiden meeting of the Sustainable Health Commodities Supply System Monitoring Committee at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The meeting marks the first since the inauguration of the committee, which was formally established by the Director General of the Board, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, just a week after his appointment.
In a statement signed by public relations officer state Primary healthcare management Board Sa’adatu Sulaiman said the meeting, which was chaired by the Director General, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, brought together members of the committee, including zonal directors. Discussions centered on strengthening accountability, improving supply chain monitoring, and ensuring the effective implementation of the Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) across health facilities in the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Pharmacist Abdullahi Abubakar Danzabuwa, commended the Director General for his visionary leadership and assured of the committee’s commitment to driving transparency and accountability in supply chain operations. He pledged close collaboration with all stakeholders to guarantee the success of the DRF system.
Also in attendance was the secretary of the committee Bashir Idris Mu’azu, alongside other committee members, who actively contributed to the deliberations aimed at streamlining the monitoring framework for better service delivery.
During the meeting, presentations were made on DRF data management, plans for operationalization, and strategies for monitoring supply chain activities at the facility level. The committee emphasized the importance of transparency, efficiency, and sustainability in health commodities management, in line with the state government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted access to essential drugs at all levels.
Resolutions of the Meeting
At the end of deliberations, the committee reached the following resolutions:
1. Remittances of supervision mark-ups to all levels (LGA, Zonal & State) through POS is no longer acceptable.
2. All payments of such remittances should henceforth be made through conventional banks, and tellers must be forwarded for receipts to be issued by the benefiting committees.
3. Supervision activities are to commence at all levels with immediate effect.
Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim reaffirmed the Board’s unwavering commitment to accountability and transparency in managing health commodities and urged all stakeholders to fully comply with the new directives for the collective good of the people of Kano State.
