Sumaila Local Government has achieved a remarkable success in its March 2026 National Plus Day’s campaign with efforts to eradicate polio, with over 98,775 children immunized during the campaign.
The exercise, which was conducted across various communities in the area witnessed a good participation and support from residents, traditional leaders, and health officials.

In a statement signed by information officer of the area Murtala Umar Kawo said the Councillor on Health, Alh Nasiru Mato Sumaila, commended the collective efforts of all stakeholders that are involved in the campaign, noting that the success recorded reflects the commitment of the local government towards protecting children from preventable diseases.
The primary Healthcare coordinator of the area, Alh Abdullahi Muhammad Kibiya, described the turnout as impressive and attributed it to effective planning and community mobilization.
The Health Educator Alh Nura Ibrahim Kunya, emphasized the importance of sustained awareness, urged parents to continue supporting immunization programmes to ensure a polio free society.

The present administration of Sumaila Local Government reiterates its commitment to strengthening healthcare services and sustaining immunization campaigns for the well being of all children in the area.
