A Two-Day training of media practitioners on ethical journalism and Child Rights reporting is in progress in Kano.
The training is aimed at achieving the legal and ethical gramework governing the reporting of children in Nigeria, including the Child Rights Act and intnternational convention.
Declaring the two-day training open, the UNICEF representative Kano Field Office, Mr Mahamud Rahama Muhammad said the training is in collaboration between UNICEF and the federal Ministry of Information and national orientation.
He added that that, the participants were drown from states in the north west and north central including the federal capital Abuja with a view to come out with the modalities that would reduce the child molestation and abuses.
The states are, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kaduna, Jigawa, Sokoto, Niger, Nasarawa and Zamfara states.
The Unicef representative in Kano also advise the journalists to concentrate and deliverate positively toward utize compelling storytelling techniques to advocate for children rights without sensitional or harm.
The programme is on and is expected to last for two days.
