The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State Chapter, has urged its members to effectively utilise the knowledge and skills acquired during the recently concluded two-day capacity-building training on photography and videography sponsored by MATASHIYA TV Kano.

The Chairperson of NAWOJ Kano, Sayyida Bahijja Malam Kabara, made the call following the successful completion of the training, which equipped over 50 women journalists with practical knowledge aimed at enhancing their professional competence in visual storytelling and digital journalism.

NAWOJ expressed its profound appreciation to MATASHIYA TV Kano for sponsoring the training and commended the facilitators for their outstanding contributions. The association specifically thanked Dr. Ashir Tahir of Bayero University, Kano, Malam Muhammad Sani Maikatanga, and the Chief Executive Officer of MATASHIYA TV, Alhaji Abubakar Murtala, for sharing their expertise and ensuring the success of the programme.

The association also called on government agencies, development partners, media organisations, and other relevant stakeholders to continue engaging women journalists in similar training programmes and professional development initiatives. Such investments, NAWOJ noted, are essential for strengthening professionalism, ethical reporting, and the overall standard of journalism, particularly among women journalists in Kano State.

NAWOJ assured MATASHIYA TV and all the facilitators that the knowledge gained during the training would be effectively applied in daily professional practice to improve the quality of journalism and visual content production.

The association once again expressed its sincere gratitude to the organisers and sponsors of the programme and prayed for greater success in their future endeavours.

In Shaa Allah, we remain committed to putting the knowledge and skills acquired into productive use for the advancement of the journalism profession.
