BUKITE FAIS 2004 has held its 14th Annual General Meeting at Ten to Ten Restaurant, Alu Avenue, with members in attendance from various parts of Kano State and beyond.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Forum, Sulaiman Vice Adamu, traced the history of BUKITE FAIS, 2004 which was established fourteen years ago to promote unity, mutual support, and strong kinship among its members, particularly graduates of Bayero University Kano, class of 2004.
He commended members for their consistent contributions toward the growth and sustainability of the forum, noting that collective commitment, dedication, and regular participation in its activities have remained the backbone of the forum’s success over the years.
The Chairman explained that one of the core objectives of the forum is the provision of welfare support to members and their families, with particular emphasis on assisting the families of deceased members.
He noted that recent condolence visits to some bereaved families revealed the urgent need for improved and more sustainable support mechanisms.
According to him, some of the families were found to be in dire need of both financial and moral assistance, a development that prompted the forum to reassess its current level of support.
He therefore praised members for their compassion, generosity, and commitment to humanitarian assistance.
Sulaiman Vice Adamu further disclosed that the forum is considering increasing the financial assistance provided to families of deceased members from the current ₦50,000 to a higher amount from next year, subject to members’ approval and enhanced contributions.
The Chairman also highlighted other achievements of the forum, including strengthening social ties among members, supporting one another during emergencies, and fostering a strong sense of belonging and collective responsibility.
Speaking earlier, the forum secretary General Alhaji Abubakar Lamido said the meeting comprised 2004 old Graduants in the Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies from the Departments of Nigerian Languages, the then Mass Communication, Islamic Studies, English Language/ French Languages, Arabic and History Department.
The Annual General Meeting featured deliberations on welfare matters, the presentation of financial reports, future plans, and strategies aimed at strengthening the forum’s operations.
Members used the opportunity to make constructive contributions and suggestions on ways to move the forum to greater heights.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by members to uphold the values of unity, compassion, and collective responsibility that define BUKITE FAIS 2004.
