The Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, has extended heartfelt felicitations to the state Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf,management and staff of the Ministry, healthcare workers across the state, and the good people of Kano State on the occasion of Democracy Day.

In a statement signed by Public relations officer state ministry for health Nabulisi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf described the day as a moment of reflection, appreciation, and renewed commitment to the principles of good governance and public service.

Dr. Yusuf emphasized the importance of democracy in promoting accountability, transparency, and equitable service delivery. He noted that under a democratic system, the health sector has continued to benefit from inclusive policies and improved access to care, which are made possible through citizen engagement and participatory governance.

While acknowledging the vital role of healthcare professionals in sustaining the health and well-being of the population, the Commissioner praised their unwavering dedication, especially during times of national and global challenges. He described health workers as pillars of resilience and commended their service as essential to the growth and development of a democratic society.

The commissioner commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for giving all necessary support to the health sector.

He further reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening healthcare systems, expanding access to quality health services, and ensuring that no community is left behind. According to Dr. Yusuf, the progress recorded in the state’s health indicators is a reflection of the collaborative efforts between government institutions, development partners, and health workers operating under democratic ideals.

Dr. Yusuf also used the opportunity to call on all stakeholders to continue to uphold the values of unity, peace, and active participation in governance.

The commissioner stressed that democracy is not only about elections but also about building institutions and systems that deliver real value to the people. He encouraged citizens to take pride in their role in shaping policies that affect their lives.

As Nigeria marks yet another Democracy Day, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf congratulates the government and people of Kano State and expresses optimism that the coming years will witness greater achievements in the health sector and beyond. He wished everyone a peaceful and reflective celebration.
