The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the timely completion of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano–Katsina–Maradi rail project as part of efforts to strengthen national connectivity and economic growth.

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transport, Engr. Funso Adebiyi, stated this during an on-the-spot assessment of ongoing construction along the rail corridor.
He explained that the inspection was aimed at evaluating the level of progress recorded and ensuring that work remains on schedule.
Engr. Adebiyi noted that the Abuja–Kaduna rail segment has been successfully completed and is already in operation, serving as a critical link in the nation’s transport network.

He added that work on the Kaduna–Zaria rail line, spanning about 71 kilometres, is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed and inaugurated by December this year.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the project, the Permanent Secretary described the Kano axis as pivotal to Nigeria’s socio-economic development, urging residents to support government efforts by protecting railway infrastructure and public assets.
