Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, Deputy governor of Kano state has stressed the importance of strengthening data protection measures as the state continues to expand the use of digital technology in government operations.
Alhaji Garo stated this in Abuja while representing the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, at a training workshop on government data governance organised for state governments across Nigeria.

He said the transition of government operations to digital platforms must go hand in hand with the protection of citizens’ personal data, accountability and security, stressing that technology should be used to improve public services without compromising the rights and privacy of citizen
The workshop was jointly organised by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, focused on the implementation of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act General Application and Implementation Directive 2025, particularly at the state government level.
