Wednesday 18th June 2025, would ever remain a memorable day, when the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, returned from this year’s Hajj Exercises 2025.
He landed at the Aminu Kano International Airport when the sun continues to smile at its pick, but the mammoth crowd keep waiting for the “Shining Star,” Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, was just unprecedented.
Hundreds of Thousands of the supporters and well-wishers thronged to the airport beaming with smiles despite waiting under the scorching sun; but they remained unperturbed.
This shows a kind of love that money could not buy, and signaling that the bond between Abba Kabir Yusuf and Kano people is such an amazing union.
When he disembarked from the aeroplane for the first time in public in Kano since his travel to Saud Arabia for the Hajj Exercise 2025, the cheering crowd raised their voices saying in local language “ Oyoyo Abba Gida Gida, meaning you are welcome back Abba Gida Gida.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Governor who was received by Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, several commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistance aides, local Government Chairmen of the 44 local government areas, MDs, DMDs and other government appointees including supporters and well-wishers, was elated and could not get tired of raising his hands in affirmative that he is appreciating the shower of love from his people.
He had to spent 4 to 5 hours before reaching government house due to crowd along the route from the airport. Songs, and chanting slogans Go Again Abba Gida Gida, Oyoyo Abba Gida Gida filled the air.
Different placards in support of the Governor including his second term bid are being displayed everywhere along the roads. Like Governor Abba 4 + 4, Go Again, We are with you, We will support you 2027 among others.
Another interesting placard I observed is from the former Councilors Forum, vow to supporting and backing the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf come 2027. It would be recalled that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, had to delayed his travel to Mecca for pilgrimage to ensure that the former councilors and chairmen who served from 2010 to 2014 got payment of their long overdue entitlements.
This postulates that the love and care that Kano people show to the Governor, is not just because of colour, party affiliation, friendship but the zeal ad commitment of the governor in making life comfortable to the people in the State and ensuring they get what they deserve in good time.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his compassionate appeals make him shine like a “Shining Star”.
