Kano state primary health care management Board has assured its readiness to collaborate with stakeholders towards the improvement of immunization in the state.
The Director General of the Board Dr Nasir Mahmud stated this at the end of project Dissemination meeting organized by the Board in collaboration with a non governmental organization called TA Connect in Kano.
The Director General Represented by the Director Administration and Human resource of the board Jazuli Ja’afar said Kano state government doing anything possible to improve immunization coverage in the state.
Dr Nasir Mahmud commended the TA Connect in its effort in improving immunization Exercise in the state.
In his speech, the Director public health and Disease control of the Board Dr Sharif Yahaya assured state government commitment in providing all its counter fund for the immunization Exercise to its partners.
Also at the event, the project manager from the board Auwal Idris highlighted some of the objectives of the meeting that includes, to promote dialogue in sustainability and integration, to foster stakeholder ownership and support for continued intervention in zero Dose.
Speaking earlier, the technical Director TA Connect Dr Layi Jaiyeola said TA Connect is a non governmental organization founded by Pfizer Foundation working with Kano state government through state primary health care management Board since 2021 for stopping immunization coverage and wrap around maternal and newborn services In the state.
Dr Layi Jaiyeola said the children were vaccinated under accelerated vaccination uptake project in Ten local government areas with zero Dose burden, adding that initially 15 local government areas were targeted.
” We administered Penta, Rota and Measles vaccines to children age between zero to. Eleventh months. Within period of Nine months of the 11,348 vaccinated 5,239 were males while 6,109 were female.” Dr Layi Jaiyeola said
Dr. Layi Jaiyeola further said TA Connect provide WRAP around maternal and Newborn services ensuring caregivers received relevant health education.
“TA Connect reached over five thousand women with information and referred 2,500 in health centers for various services.
During the meeting, representatives from WHO Dr Babagana, Gate Foundation Dr. Shamsuddeen Sani, Pathfinder international Ibrahim Gombe gave their goodwill massages.
