The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) is pleased to share the inspiring story of Hannatu Hamza, a resident of Ja’en, who recently benefitted from the Agency’s maternal healthcare services under the State Healthcare contributory Scheme.
Hannatu, who previously suffered the painful loss of her baby due to lack of access to proper healthcare, enrolled in the KSCHMA scheme in hopes of a better outcome for her next pregnancy. Through the support of the scheme, she accessed quality antenatal services at Softcare Hospital, Sharada, one of KSCHMA’s accredited healthcare providers.
In a statement signed by information officer KSCHMA Aminu Ahmad Turaki said Following a safe and successful Caesarean Section (CS) delivery—fully covered under the scheme—both Hannatu and her newborn are now in excellent health. Overcome with emotion and unable to speak during her recent visit to KSCHMA headquarters, Hannatu was represented by her husband Mal. Arma ya’u, who shared their heartfelt appreciation.
“We went through a very dark period when we lost our first child due to lack of proper medical care. But through the KSCHMA scheme, my wife received the best treatment during her pregnancy. The doctors at Softcare Hospital were professional and supportive. We didn’t have to worry about the cost, and that alone lifted a great burden off our shoulders. Today, we are grateful to Almighty God and to KSCHMA for blessing us with a healthy child and keeping my wife safe,” he stated.
Receiving the couple at the KSCHMA office, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, expressed her joy and reiterated the Agency’s continued commitment to expanding access to affordable and quality healthcare services for all residents of Kano State.
“Hannatu’s experience is a true reflection of our mission at KSCHMA—to ensure no woman dies or suffers during childbirth due to lack of access to healthcare. We remain focused on strengthening the healthcare system and delivering results that improve the lives of our people,” Dr. Muktar said.
As a demonstration of KSCHMA’s dedication to maternal and child health, the Executive Secretary directed the immediate enrollment of Hannatu’s baby into the scheme, ensuring the child’s access to free and quality healthcare services from birth.
