Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has commenced the distribution of land allocation documents to political appointees serving under his administration as part of efforts to reward loyalty, encourage property ownership and improve the welfare of government supporters.
Declaring the event open at the Coronation Hall, Kano government House. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the gesture was part of his promises during the meeting with them about month ago.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf represented by the Secretary to the state Government Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim said leadership is nothing but fulfilling the promises.
According to the Governor the programme was not merely about allocating plots of land, but a strategic intervention designed to reduce the housing deficit, promote home ownership and empower beneficiaries to build lasting assets for themselves and their families.
The Governor further said more than 2,000 beneficiaries are expected to receive land allocation documents during the two-day exercise, including political appointees, polling agents and in line with the administration commitment to inclusive governance and social empowerment.
He urged the beneficiaries to use of it at the ownership investment and their families.
Speaking earlier, the state commissioner for Land and Physical Planning Alhaji Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar described the programme as a landmark initiative that reflects the government determination to improve the living standards of the people through access to land and housing opportunities.
Alhaji Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar highlights the categories of the beneficiaries which includes: Special Assistants SA’s, Senior Special Assistants SSA’s, Special Reporters SR’s, Senior Special Reporters SSR’s and Personal Assistants PA’s.
The commissioner explained that the allocation of plots to political appointees would provide many of them with their first opportunity to own land, thereby laying a solid foundation for future home ownership and economic security.
The commissioner described the gesture as a first of its kind in the history of all Democratic government in the state.
“Let me give you an example, former Governor Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso distributes about 1500 Plots, Former Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje distributes about 2000 but the present Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as at now distributes more than 2000 in two days,”The commissioner said.
Alhaji Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar further said, the initiative is part of present administration to reduce high risk of land ownership in the state.
In their several Goodwill massages, the state APC Chairman Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa through Barrister Abdul Fagge SAN, Special Adviser to the Governor on political Affairs Alhaji Mustafa Hamza Buhari commended the Governor for the initiative described it as dividend of Democracy.
