The Kano State Ministry of Health has reaffirmed its commitment to evidence-based planning and improved healthcare delivery following the successful conclusion of the State Annual Operational Plan (AOP) Performance Review for Q3–Q4 2025 and Q1–Q2 2026 and the Mid-Term Joint Annual Review (JAR) 2026.
The review chaired by State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, brought together Permanent Secretaries, heads of health agencies, directors, programme managers and development partners to assess sector performance, validate achievements, identify implementation gaps and agree on priority actions to accelerate the attainment of the 2026 health sector targets.
Declaring the review open, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf described the Annual Operational Plan as a critical instrument for driving accountability, measuring performance and guiding strategic decision-making across the health sector. He commended the dedication of health workers, agencies and development partners, urging participants to critically review programme performance, embrace data-driven planning and strengthen inter-agency collaboration to ensure better health outcomes for the people of Kano State.
In a statement signed by public Relations officer KSPHMB Sa’adatu Sulaiman said Following extensive programme presentations and technical deliberations, stakeholders agreed on key next steps to strengthen the planning process. These include the completion of comprehensive situation analyses by AOP focal persons, programme prioritization through the establishment of baseline data and realistic performance targets, the development of the 2027 Annual Operational Plan, and a technical review of the draft AOP to ensure quality, feasibility and alignment with the strategic priorities of the Kano State health sector.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the Ministry of Health, heads of health agencies and development partners to sustain collaboration, strengthen accountability and implement strategic interventions that will further improve the quality, accessibility and resilience of healthcare services across Kano State.
