The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has conducted a Post-Funding Verification Visit to Kiru General Hospital to assess the implementation and impact of the solar power project financed by the Fund as part of its commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across Kano State.

The verification exercise was led by the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, alongside members of the Fund’s management team.

KHETFUND disbursed the sum of ₦56,619,370, on 12th March, 2026, to Kiru General Hospital for the installation of a solar power system aimed at ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply, improving service delivery, and enhancing the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

Speaking during the verification visit, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen expressed satisfaction with the successful execution of the project, noting that the intervention has significantly improved the hospital’s capacity to provide uninterrupted and efficient healthcare services.

She attributed the Fund’s achievements to the unwavering support of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, whom she praised for placing the health sector at the forefront of his administration’s development agenda.

“His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has continued to demonstrate exceptional commitment to improving healthcare delivery by giving the sector the attention and resources it deserves. His support for strategic reforms initiated and championed by health sector leaders has created an enabling environment for impactful interventions across our health facilities,” she said.

In a statement signed by Faruk Isa Musa the Executive Secretary also commended the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, for providing visionary leadership and driving transformative reforms that are repositioning Kano State’s healthcare system.

“The Honourable Commissioner for Health has shown remarkable leadership and dedication in revolutionising the health sector. His strategic direction and commitment to quality healthcare continue to inspire confidence and accelerate the implementation of impactful health programmes across the state,” Dr. Zahraddeen added.

She reaffirmed KHETFUND’s commitment to ensuring accountability and value for public investments through regular monitoring and post-funding verification exercises, emphasizing that such assessments are essential to guaranteeing that funded projects are executed according to specification and deliver the intended benefits to healthcare facilities and the people of Kano State.

The management of Kiru General Hospital expressed appreciation to KHETFUND and the Kano State Government for the timely intervention, describing the solar installation as a critical investment that has greatly enhanced the hospital’s operations, particularly in powering essential medical equipment and improving patient care.

The Post-Funding Verification Exercise forms part of KHETFUND’s broader strategy to monitor the performance, sustainability, and impact of healthcare projects funded across Kano State, while promoting transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in healthcare service delivery.

KHETFUND is for Everywhere Within the State, Within the Health Sector.
