Kano State Ministry of Health Partners with FCDO and WHO to Strengthen Health Training Institutions
The state commissioner for health Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf stated this at a meeting with WHO and FCDO officials at the state emergency operations center.
The Commissioner said Kano state ministry for health in collaboration with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) convened a meeting aimed at enhancing the quality of education in health training institutions across the state.
According to Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf the stakeholders meeting set to review ongoing interventions and outline new initiatives to fast-track progress. Discussions focused on increasing student enrollment in health training schools, improving educational infrastructure, and reviewing existing laws to upgrade health institutions into fully accredited colleges.
In a statement signed by Public Relations Officer state ministry for health Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa the Commissioner reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to strengthening the health education sector.
“The Kano State Government has already provided an e-library to facilitate students’ access to modern learning resources and is actively reviewing the laws establishing the training institutions to upgrade them into colleges.” Dr Labaran added.
Dr. Yusuf emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration with development partners to consolidate and expand these gains.
Participants at the meeting included senior officials from the Ministry of Health, Directors-General of the State Primary Health Care Management Board (SPHMB), Kano Education Development Fund (KEDFUND), and the Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA), alongside representatives from the WHO.
The meeting highlighted the urgency of implementing reforms swiftly to build a robust and well-trained healthcare workforce capable of meeting the state’s healthcare demands.
“Kano State Government remains resolute in its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at elevating the quality of healthcare education and service delivery, ensuring a healthier future for all residents,” The commissioner emphasized.
