Kano State Government renewed its determination to boost security in all nooks and crannies of the state.
The Commissioner for Internal Security, and special services, Retired AVM Ibrahim Umaru gave the assurance at the distribution of the First batch of Uniforms and other Kits to Kano State Command of the Vigilante Groups from across the forty four local government areas of the state.
He says the government would do everything possible to ensure adequate security of lives and properties of the its citizens.
The Commissiner stated that Governor Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf is quite appreciative of the complementary role by the Vigilante Groups to other security agencies in the state in securing the lives and properties of the general public.
In a statement signed by Director Public enlightenment state ministry for Internal Security and special services Muhammad Dahiru Idris said the commissioner therefore assured of his ministry continuing support to the Vigilante Groups to enable them perform more efficiently.
He added that new administrative and Patrol vehicles would be procured for the Vigilante Groups to enable theme discharge their duties effectively.
Retired AVM Ibrahim Umaru,then emphasised on the need for synergies among all security agencies in the state, and unity especially among the vigilante groups from across the 44 local government areas for effective operation.
On his part, the Kano State Commander of the Vigilante Groups, Ambassador Shehu Muhammad Rabiu called on wealthy individuals in the state to complement Kano state government efforts in the provision of Patrol vehicles, pointing out the issue of security is a collective responsibility.
Ambassador Shehu Muhammad Rabiu thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for addressing issues affecting Vigilante Groups in Kano State, and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them by the government .
He said the Government has built a befitting state Office Complex for the Vigilante Group while other welfare issues are being addressed by the Governor, assuring of their determination to reciprocate the good gesture by rededicating themselves to service.
