As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance access to quality healthcare services across Kano State, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, on Monday 30th February 2025, conducted an unscheduled inspection visit to Jogana Primary Healthcare Centre in Gezawa Local Government Area. The visit focused on evaluating the availability, delivery, and effectiveness of family planning services being offered to community members.

During the visit, the Commissioner engaged with healthcare personnel, facility management, and some beneficiaries of the services. He expressed satisfaction with the dedication of the staff and encouraged them to sustain high standards of professionalism. The inspection also offered an opportunity to assess any challenges affecting service delivery and to propose immediate solutions.

In a statement signed by Public relations officer state ministry for health Nabulisi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that all primary healthcare facilities in the state are adequately equipped and staffed to deliver comprehensive reproductive health services, including family planning. He emphasized that family planning plays a crucial role in improving maternal and child health outcomes and in promoting the overall well-being of families.

“We are committed to ensuring that family planning commodities are consistently available, that service providers are properly trained, and that clients receive care that is respectful, confidential, and well-informed,” the Commissioner stated. He also urged healthcare workers to intensify public sensitization on the benefits of family planning and to maintain trust and confidentiality in client interactions.

This unscheduled visit is part of the State Government’s broader health sector reform agenda, which emphasizes accountability, accessibility, and quality in service delivery. The Ministry of Health remains steadfast in its mission to strengthen the primary healthcare system and ensure that critical services reach citizens, particularly women and children, at the grassroots level.
