The Kano State Ministry of Health has organised a training workshop, the first of its kind, to train its drivers on traffic rules, safe driving practices, and good workplace conduct.
The training was designed to improve drivers’ understanding of road safety, obedience to traffic laws, and proper behaviour while on duty, especially in their relationship with supervisors and other staff.
During the workshop, participants were educated on the importance of obeying traffic rules, protecting lives and property, and maintaining professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The training aimed at improving service delivery and reducing road accidents.
Several lectures and presentations were delivered by senior officials from different government institutions, highlighting work ethics, discipline, and compliance with rules and regulations expected of government drivers.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Alhaji Abba Adamu Danguguwa, emphasised the importance of discipline, proper conduct, and good working relationships between drivers and their supervisors for effective service delivery.
Also, the Director of Establishment from the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Kano State, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Jalal, presented a paper on the procedures for disciplining civil servants who commit offences, explaining the rules and regulations guiding disciplinary actions in the public service.
In his presentation, the Executive Director of the Kano State Driving Training Institute, Alhaji Garba Abdu Gaya, spoke on safe driving on public roads and the importance of understanding traffic signs in order to prevent accidents.
The training workshop was held at Tahir Guest Palace, Kano.
In a statement signed by public relations officer state ministry for health Nabilisi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa said In his closing remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist Aminu Bashir, stated that the training was organised to equip drivers with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely and professionally. He urged the participants to apply what they had learned in their daily work.
Speaking on behalf of the drivers, Malam Auwalu Ya’u Karefa expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for approving the training and assured that the drivers would put into practice the knowledge gained from the workshop.
