The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Kano State Office, has organised a one-day sensitisation workshop for enrollees, healthcare facilities (HCFs), and health maintenance organisations (HMOs). The event took place on September 23, 2025, at the Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Studies, Mambayya House.

Declaring the workshop open, the Zonal Coordinator of NHIA North-West Zone, Alhaji Ahmad Iliyasu, stressed that it is “no longer business as usual” for the authority. He noted that the NHIA is undergoing several innovations, reforms, and updates to improve service delivery and ensure Nigerians enjoy quality healthcare coverage.

In his remarks, the NHIA Kano State Coordinator, Dr. Babangida Baba Daho (Zannan Albasu),

He added, that the interactive session, which featured presentations and questions from participants, would go a long way in creating mutual understanding and guiding stakeholders on the next steps.

The workshop also highlighted updates and innovations contained in the NHIA Act, signed into law on May 19, 2022. Key objectives under the Act include equity financing, financial protection, and universal access to healthcare.
