Kano State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has successfully concluded the 2025 Free Oral Health Outreach Campaign, where more than 6,000 people across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state received free oral health services. The campaign, which commenced on 16th August, came to a close today at Filin Mushe Primary Healthcare Centre in Gwale Local Government Area.

Speaking shortly after inspecting the exercise, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pharmacist Aminu Bashir, commended the commitment of healthcare workers and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the program. He noted that the initiative was part of the present administration’s broader strategy to improve access to quality healthcare, particularly in preventive and primary healthcare services.

In a statement signed by Public relations officer state ministry for health Nabilisi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa Pharmacist Bashir explained that oral health has often been neglected, yet it plays a critical role in the overall wellbeing of individuals. He emphasized that untreated dental diseases could lead to severe health complications, stressing that the government would continue to invest in similar interventions to safeguard the health of its citizens.

The Permanent Secretary also highlighted that the outreach provided not only free dental check-ups and treatments but also health education, awareness creation, and distribution of oral hygiene kits to participants. According to him, these interventions are aimed at promoting preventive practices among communities and reducing the burden of oral diseases in the state.

One of the beneficiaries, Malam Idris Garba Amin, who received treatment during the exercise, expressed his profound gratitude to the Kano State Government. He described the program as timely and impactful, particularly for low-income earners who cannot afford the cost of oral healthcare services. He prayed for the continued success of the administration and called on the government to sustain similar initiatives.

The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to bringing healthcare closer to the people, in line with the vision of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, who has consistently prioritized health as a key pillar of his administration. Officials assured that more outreach programs would be organized in the future, targeting other critical areas of health in order to reduce disease burden and enhance the quality of life of Kano residents.

The Free Oral Health Outreach Campaign further demonstrates the state government’s resolve to collaborate with healthcare professionals, partners, and communities to ensure that no citizen is left behind in accessing essential health services.
