The Kano State Government has declared tomorrow, Friday, September 12, 2025, as a public holiday to mark the Maulud celebration, which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said the date corresponds to 19th Rabi’ul Awwal, 1447AH.

The government called on civil servants, private sector workers and the general public to observe the holiday peacefully and in line with the teachings of the Prophet.
It further urged residents to use the occasion to reflect on values of unity, tolerance, and obedience to lawful authority, while also offering prayers for peace, prosperity and the progress of Kano State and Nigeria at large.
“The government extends its warm felicitations to the good people of Kano State and wishes them a peaceful and memorable Maulud celebration,” the statement added.
