Kano state government in a bold demonstration of commitment to public health and emergency preparedness through the Kano State Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC) has distributed Personal Protective Equipments to 44 local government areas of the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf while flag off the distribution said this is part of present administration policy in the improving the health sector across the state.
The Governor represented by the Director General Kano state Center for Disease Control Professor Muhammad Adamu Abbas said the distribution of the Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) to all 44 Local Government Areas of the state through Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers (DSNOs).
In a statement signed by public relations officer KNCDC Muhammad Dayyabu Ali said the distribution of PPEs are critical tools for frontline disease prevention and response and they include:
Aprons: to shield health workers’ clothing from contamination and body fluid splashes;
Facemasks: to prevent inhalation and transmission of infectious droplets;
Goggles: to protect the eyes from splashes and infectious materials;
Hand gloves: to prevent direct hand contact with pathogens and hazardous substances;
Sanitizers: to ensure rapid hand disinfection and reduce the spread of infections.
According to the statement the distribution exercise was attended by the State Epedimiologist Dr. Abdullahi Sa’ad, senior KNCDC’s officials among others.
Professor Muhammad Adamu Abbas, emphasized that the availability of PPEs is central to protecting healthcare workers and ensuring swift and effective emergency response.
He explained that, rather than stockpiling these materials in the state capital, the present administration has strategically taken them closer to hospitals and health facilities across the 44 LGAs, enabling faster response to outbreaks and saving critical time and lives.
Professor Muhammad Adamu Abbas also commended Local Government Chairmen for their cooperation given to the center.
The Director General called on the media, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and community leaders to continue partnering with the Kano State Government and KNCDC in promoting Disease prevention and public health awareness.
This strategic intervention further underscores the resolve of the Abba Kabir Yusuf–led administration to strengthen health security, empower frontline responders, and protect the wellbeing of all residents of Kano State.
