Kano state primary healthcare management Board has reiterated its commitment to tackle the Rubella Measles and other diseases affecting the children in the state.
The Director General of the Board Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim stated this while declaring open a One day sensitization meeting with stakeholders and groups on the forthcoming state mass Campaign on Rubella Measles Vaccination.

He said the essence of the meeting is to have working together with Traditional Leaders, partners, Religious Leaders and other community Leaders on these two diseases that is measles infection and Rubella Measles.
” We have the case of measles infection and Rubella Measles infection. All of them are barely infection affect children of less than 15 years of age.” Prof. Salisu Ahmad said
According to the Director General, the vaccine it is a single Vaccine that if given to the Child it will protect from these two Diseases that we are having.
” As you know measles affect children and cause a lot of illness leading to corneal blindness and other restricted problems that affect the body.” DG added
Professor Salisu Ahmad further said Rubella has the similar presentation, but most of complication of Rubella is affecting the Heart directly.
” That’s why Kano state government called on stakeholders to come together to understand that given this Vaccine will help prevent this illness. So we can have a healthy children. That is why also having it as a massive Campaign across the 44 local government areas in the state from 4th October to 13th October 2025.”DG Emphasized
Professor Salisu Ahmad further said all eligible children of less 15 years are eligible to get the vaccine.
” We want traditional rulers to tell the people that they should bring out their children during the mass vaccination campaign as well as Religious Leaders during their Sermon, gethereing ceremony.” DG called on

In her presentation, state Immunization officer Hajiya Sa’adatu Ibrahim said immunization has the two different types that is, Routine immunization which is usually domisde in the various health facilities and it is Free of charge as well as that which go to individual Houses that called Campaign.
” Immunization generally aimed at improving community immunity. Adding that, the main target for Routine immunization is to have more than 80% of under five children be fully protected.” Sa’adatu Ibrahim said
According to state immunization officer if the eligible children were reached in the community, at end of the day it will reduce the number of outbreak of diseases such as measles, yellow fever, Human Papilloma virus, Rubella Measles, Tuberculosis and other infectious diseases.
During the event Dr Usman Muhammad Ibrahim present a paper on the overview of measles and Rubella as well as Dr Bashir Mautsidau on overview of Human Papilloma Vaccine Routinization Uptake.
The meeting attended by Traditional leaders, Religious Leaders, CSO’s and the Media.
